Smell Through The ….. (Guest Post)

Recently I’ve had my eyes opened massively . To find out that someone you loved more than anything cheated all the way through your relationship. That also includes sleeping with people. I’ve seen the proof.

I tell you what though it hurts knowing on a night (like so many I did this) I picked her up from town when she was drunk. Moments before shes kissing someone else.

Its all coming out and the proof is undeniable.

And I’m looking through all these messages where she would threaten to kill herself because I couldn’t come over. The amount of times I would have to contact her friends as I was worried about it. The amount of times this was threatened is unbelievable.

All I ever wanted to do was help.

I never see this person now it was years ago I just hope they are in a better place & good luck to the next guy…or the next few.

The Dioramist By Eric Keegan (Book Review)

“Sometimes, when you take a rooted step out the front door, you feel like a song.”

About Eric Keegan:

Eric Keegan has been writing novels and screenplays since 2005 but only recently became an avid and enthusiastic reader. The two hundred books he has read in the past three years have helped him hone his own writing style. Eric likes to go against the grain when crafting his stories.

Eric currently works in manufacturing. When he isn’t working or writing, he seeks inspiration through his travels and in the great outdoors. He has never forgotten his Eagle Scout training and still finds nature a welcome respite from the stresses of daily life.

Amazon And Goodreads Summary:

The titular character in Eric Keegan’s The Dioramist is in the throes of a quarter-life crisis. He may only be in his midtwenties, but the dioramist finds himself lost and confused. He has spent so much of his time in an ill-defined relationship that he doesn’t understand himself apart from his partner.

When a friend suggests that he begin writing down his inner thoughts, hopes, and dreams, our hero sets off on an adventure that shows him a new passion in life. Writing becomes fundamental to his identity, but he isn’t sure if he has the courage to share his thoughts with the world.

At the same time, he struggles with his relationship with his ex-girlfriend Elizian. The two have been in a holding pattern for so long that neither is sure they’re ready to make the next step. As the writer gains enlightenment about his own life, Elizian will be inspired to seek out the same.

This intimate, personal look at one man’s journey shows the many different routes recovery can take and reminds you that it’s never too late to fall in love with something new.

My Thoughts:

I loved reading this book. I’m just going to get right into it and say this was one of my favourite books I’ve read recently. I love Keegan’s flow and the way his books are so free and like a stream of consciousness.

It was also quite relatable because being in your twenties is so super confusing and scary but it’s also where you find yourself and realise what you really want in life.

I would definitely highly recommend checking it out!

Things I Learnt While Blogging

I’ve been blogging for a bit over 3 years and over the years these are the things I’ve picked up so far. Let me know in the comments if they’re relatable!

It’s harder then it looks- I know a lot of people thinking blogging is easy or “not a real job” but if you’re a blogger yourself you know just how much work actually goes into making even just one blog post let alone starting a blog from scratch. It’s super difficult to come up with new ideas to post about every day/other day/week and to actually keep your audience engaged with the content. It’s also much more difficult these days to get a good amount of traffic/following considering how many blogs there are out there making similar content. Blogging can be very time consuming as I have learnt over the years.

It’s super fun- Even though it is a lot of work it’s also a lot of fun at the same time especially if blogging isn’t your full time job (and even if it is!) because there are so many perks of blogging. You get to meet all these amazing bloggers from all over the world and you get to interact with like-minded people you otherwise would probably have never been able to talk to. Plus, you get to share your opinions, thoughts or even just life experiences with others.

It’s a great way to start writing- If you want to do something to do with writing at some point in your life blogging is a great way to start out and gain some experience. I think especially if you are under 18 (or not!) it’s a great start because it teaches you so much about writing and helps you figure out your style/niche/genre and it helps you figure out what people like reading. It’s great practice for free!

It’s fun for introverts- As an introvert myself I’m not a big fan of socializing in person (or getting out of my bed…) but blogging allows you to meet people and socialize with people without having to actually meet or socialize with them! It’s great for introverts or people with social anxiety as it gives them a chance to learn to be more social and meet more people with being overwhelmed because sometimes we want to socialize too but we don’t want to leave our beds (I have a staying in bed problem!).

Happy Birthday, Jane Austen!

Happy Birthday to one of my favourite writers!

Kathy Cherry Books

Jane Austen was born on December 16, 1775 in England.  She authored six books and these books continue to be revered today. Her books include Pride and Prejudice, Emma, Sense and Sensibility, Persuasion, Northanger Abbey, and Mansfield Park.

Jane’s father encouraged her writing back then and even bought her expensive paper and pencils even when the family needed the extra money. She used her father’s library frequently by reading lots of books.

I distinctly remember reading Pride and Prejudice many, many years ago. I loved that book! I dreamt about meeting my own Mr. Darcy some day. But, I also remember Jane’s great sense of wit and wisdom in her writing throughout her novels.

Enjoy a few quotes from Jane Austen’s works:

“It isn’t what we say or think that defines us, but what we do.”
Sense and Sensibility

Six Things You Should Never Say To A Blogger

Life with Spina Bifida

Things you should never say to a blogger (4)

When most people visit a blog unless they are bloggers themselves they will never truly understand the amount of work it takes to build a successful blog. For that reason, bloggers work often times are underappreciated because most people think we whip blog posts up in five minutes. It is our job to make blogging look easy and although it may look like we whipped these posts up in five minutes I assure you we did not and it probably took way longer than it appears. Saying comments like blogging is not that hard can come off as rude or insensitive and can really hurt someone’s feelings. Want to show a blogger you appreciate what they do? It is really simple avoid saying these things and you are on the right path to showing your favorite blogger your appreciation without even trying.

You’ll never make money– A very small…

The Guy From Another League by Kristina Gallo

GoodReads Blurb:

This is a book about a girl who made a wrong choice. It will bring her humiliation and disgrace. Her relationship will bring out the worse from her. She will gamble with her reputation, lose her friends and dignity. All for the guy who just wanted the one-night stand.

My Thoughts:

Before I start this I just want to appreciate the fact that Kristina’s first language is not English yet she has managed to publish a number of books in English which I think is really inspiring!

I am not a fan of books about love and relationships in general so I was slightly skeptical about this one. However, I knew that it would be interesting since I have read other works written by Kristina and I was impressed with them. As expected I was pleasantly surprised by this one too.

The book is about a girl, Renata, who falls in love with a man, Davon, who clearly doesn’t want the same things as her from the relationship. It’s eye opening and beautifully realistic. If you’re sick of reading about super feminine women who are portrayed unrealistically this is definitely the book for you. I would definitely recommend it and even if you usually don’t read these sort of books in general.
