6 easy ways to help our planet

Ramble on

Unless you live in the forest, I’m sure you’ve heard of that small thing called climate change. The planet is under strain and could be irrecoverably damaged if we don’t change our ways. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want future generations, including my own future kids, to grow up in a damaged, dangerous environment and not get to see some of the wonders of the world that I’ve been lucky enough to see. Polluted air is killing more people that before, species are dying out at alarming rates and everything is looking rather bleak. Here are a few small changes we can make that will make a difference to our planet if we all work together:

  1. Eat less meat

I think this is one of the most hotly contested ways we can help our planet as a lot of people really enjoy eating meat. That’s your perogative…

‘Sunsets are Proof that Endings Can be Beautiful’

I think this is a really sweet, uplifting quote. All good things must come to an end one day, but they don’t have to bring sadness and tears. They can be beautiful!

‘Never Too Young to Start an Empire, Never Too Old to Chase a Dream’

I love this one so much. It’s true though, just because society says you can’t, doesn’t mean they are…

5 Essential Tips For Improving Your Instagram Game

These are such good tips!

lottieiswriting

In today’s post we’re going to be talking about how to step up your Instagram game! As with all of the other how-to posts this month, everything I talk about is from my personal experience – so if you’ve been doing something differently, and it works, great for you! Lots of different people use different techniques to succeed on Instagram and these are only a few things that can make a difference.

How To Step Up Your Instagram Game

1. Have A Business Account

All that you need to change your Instagram profile from a personal account to a business account is to create a Facebook page (which you don’t have to use, is quick to set up, and you can delete once you’ve switched over). This will give you access to insights, a super helpful statistics page that shows who your audience is, how many people you’re reaching, who…

Top Travel Tips For Introverts

Great tips!

Bonded By Adventure

Hey travel lovers and welcome back to a whole new year of blogging! We have some great posts for you in 2019, but for now we are going to be sharing with you some of our favourite travel tips for introverts in celebration of World Introvert Day.

  1. Always travel with headphones, a book and maybe even a sleep mask – If you are too nervous to talk to people then this is one of the easiest ways to avoid conversation without appearing to be really rude.
  2. Try a retreat – There are plenty of different options for retreats available, whether it’s writing, spa, yoga, or something else. Retreats tend to offer a calm and quiet space in pristine natural settings. You will probably end up surrounded by like minded people who like to keep to themselves.
  3. Order room service – This can be a nice break if you have not…

5 Social Media Marketing Do’s and Don’ts from a freelance Social Media Consultant

Really great tips!

ThisthingcalledFashion

5 Social Media Marketing Do’s and Don’ts, THISTHINGCALLEDFASHIONIt’s about time I wrote about this, not just from a social media consultants perspective but also as a blogger/influencer who has been disgusted by ill-mannered marketing approaches and blown away by well thought out messages.

DON’TS

Don’t be spammy.

Just don’t do it. Do not send DMs/comments requesting for a follow back or create a group and share a link to your new product/post without permission.

Don’t ignore comments: Engaging with your customers is vital for business. They feel heard & more relevant but with no engagement they may feel as if you don’t care about their question, comment or concern. It all comes back to customer service. Don’t ignore relevant comments. Use them as an opportunity to interact with your followers.

Don’t rely on automation: This aspect is still very new to Nigerian business which is a good thing on this case because the brands still maintain…

5 Tips for Self-Care and Coping with Anxiety

Really good tips!

Do Not Disturb

I started this blog because I really wanted an outlet to discuss self-care and self love, two things I struggle with and I know I’m not alone. But what is self-care? I’m no expert and am not pretending to be. I’m just a normal girl, going through life, and trying to figure out the best ways to deal with it all: work, relationships, family, etc. Even when I find new outlets for releasing stress or giving myself a mental health break, they don’t always work. I have good days and bad days, ups and downs. Sometimes, I can’t pinpoint what is dragging me down or depleting my motivation for the day. Other days, I completely surprise myself with how much I can accomplish.

For me, the basis of self-care starts with being able to read your body and mind and listening to them when they are asking for help. Of…

IT WAS FIFTY YEARS AGO TODAY- MONDAY DECEMBER 30, 1968- FRANK SINATRA RECORDS ‘MY WAY’

The history behind my favourite Frank Sinatra song!

slicethelife

It was fifty years ago today- Monday December 30, 1968- Frank Sinatra recorded what would become one of his ‘signature songs’- My Way.

The original song was written as a French pop song Comme  d’habitude [ As Usual} by Claude Francois and Jacques Revaux and performed by Francois. Canadian singer Paul Anka heard the song in 1967 and went to France to negotiate the rights to the song. He thought it was a terrible record but had something in it. Anka acquired the rights. A while later he was dining in Florida with Sinatra and a couple Mob guys- when he heard Sinatra say “I’m quitting the business. I’m sick of it. I”m getting the hell out.”  When Anka got back to New York City he took the original song and re-wrote it for Sinatra. Sinatra would record it on this date and release it as a single in early…

Happy Birthday, Jane Austen!

Happy Birthday to one of my favourite writers!

Kathy Cherry Books

Jane Austen was born on December 16, 1775 in England.  She authored six books and these books continue to be revered today. Her books include Pride and Prejudice, Emma, Sense and Sensibility, Persuasion, Northanger Abbey, and Mansfield Park.

Jane’s father encouraged her writing back then and even bought her expensive paper and pencils even when the family needed the extra money. She used her father’s library frequently by reading lots of books.

I distinctly remember reading Pride and Prejudice many, many years ago. I loved that book! I dreamt about meeting my own Mr. Darcy some day. But, I also remember Jane’s great sense of wit and wisdom in her writing throughout her novels.

Enjoy a few quotes from Jane Austen’s works:

“It isn’t what we say or think that defines us, but what we do.”
Sense and Sensibility

“I declare after all…
