How To Find The Perfect Name For Your Blog

When I first started blogging it took me like a month to come up with a good name for the blog. I didn’t even know exactly what I wanted to write about so I didn’t know how exactly to come up with a good name. Anyway, here’s a few tips to help you find the perfect name for your blog!

  1. Topics and niches- If you are sure about what you’re going to be writing about you may want to add something about it in your title. For example, if you are writing about cooking you can have food/recipes/foodie on your title to let your audience know what the blog is about. If you’re not sure what you want to write about (which is totally okay!) or you want to write about multiple topics (which again is totally okay!) then try finding a name that is catchy but doesn’t have any specific topics in the name like lifesfinewhine… 😂😉
  2. Google- Google is definitely your best friend when it comes to finding a domain name! The truth is when you start out you really don’t know much about blogging and blog names so try Google popular blog names to give you an idea of what to call yours! Again if you know what topic/s you’re going to be writing on, Google blogs on that topic/s and get some inspiration from their names!
  3. Talk to others- Talk to people around you and ask them for ideas! Even if they’re not directly involved with your blog I’m sure they’ll be happy to help and may actually have some really great ideas!
  4. Be unique and creative- I know I just said to get inspired by other blogs but remember not to steal their name or use something super similar! Use something unique so that people can remember it and it’s the first thing that comes up when people Google it.
  5. Name generating sites- If you still can’t come up with a name there are lots of sites online that will help you find a name for free so be sure to check them out!

You NEED the MakeupEraser

Southern Girl Blogging

Hello out there in reader land! Here’s a note to my beauties and those who love makeup and clean skin. Last night, your devoted southern blogger got to sample the MakeUp Eraser, boasted to completely clean allll of your mascara, dark liner, foundation, and even the sweat and crud off without soap. Just wet this special REUSABLE cloth and wipe away! AND it’s REUSABLE for 3-5 years. You can imagine my apprehension and eye roll at this claim. This little pink square sample arrived in the mail all fuzzy (like a scary ‘70s shag carpet) and my eye roll became an eye and neck roll. AS IF this little square was going to clean MY heavy diva makeup face down to clean. So I piled on that mascara, the false lashes (with black glue) and liner, used my waterproof foundation and spritzed with a nice finishing spray to seal the deal…

DusitD2

As you guys know I’ve been back in Nairobi for a while and I thought I would explore a little and go see some new places I’ve never been to before. This post is actually coming in a little late because we visited the place like 3 weeks ago.

Anyway we decided to first check out the Rouge Deck which is by far the coolest place I’ve been to recently! It’s located in DusitD2 which is actually a hotel but has a lot of cool things too! They have a red pool and there’s a sitting area in the pool- like right in it- which is why it’s called the Rouge Deck! That was a really bad description to be honest so just check out the pictures below to get a better idea of what it looks like!

Once we were done with our drinks we decided to check out the rest of DusitD2. First we checked out the super awesome looking restaurants which also have vegan and vegetarian options!

Then we decided to go see their studio which was the prettiest place ever with some amazing artwork!

Later we decided to explore a little more, however, some of the floors are restricted but we were lucky enough to go see them anyway!

Overall, I had an amazing time! They have some amazing restaurants if you’re interested in going to eat, they have some super cute little stores if you’re in the mood to buy something and if you just want to hang out and have some drinks the Rouge Lounge is absolutely the perfect place for it!

Fazlur Rahman Khan – A Genius Who Made Skyscrapers Real (Guest Post)

Top Facts To Get Acquainted With Fazlur Rahman Khan

The man, who affected the Chicago skyline. He is called a genius, Einstein of the architecture and innovator. The man, who deserved admiration and recognition. Fazlur Rahman Khan was a gifted man, who made contemporary skyscrapers achievable.

1. Khan’s most powerful idea was the “Tube” Structural Designs.
2. Khan worked for prominent “Skidmore, Owings & Merill” architectural firm.
3. He projected a “Bundled Tube” design which was embodied in the Willis Tower, which until 1998 was the highest building worldwide.
4. At the Willis Tower lobby, there is a statue of Khan.
5. During the Bangladesh Liberation War, he took a major role in collecting funds for the Bengali people.

The True Story of Einstein of Architecture

The skyscraper was in decay. Then Fazlur Khan had a theory that would turn the traditional architecture on its head. He was born in Bangladesh and attended a civil engineering school. For the excellent performance, he was honored with a government Pakistan grant and a Fulbright scholarship. The grant gave him a chance to immigrate to the United States, where he got into the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Fazlur Rahman Khan designed the Haji Terminal at King Abdulaziz International Airport. The tent-like structure he used was very innovating, and the King Abdulaziz airport received many awards, including the Aga Khan Award for Architecture. They claimed that Khan’s work affected the modern Muslims architectural tradition. He made numerous accomplishments:

˗ In 1972 he was announced ENR’s Man of the Year;
˗ In 1973 he received Alfred Lindau Award;
˗ Ernest Award in 1977.

Despite the fact, he was 20 years old the first time he saw a real skyscraper, Fazlur Khan was the first to introduce building innovations to American skyscrapers. Fazlur Rahman Khan as a person Khan’s colleagues remember him, as a man of easygoing nature. Some of them bear in mind, how Khan amused upper-crust women by reading palms and predicting the fortunes. He was the son of a mathematician and confirmed himself as a civil engineering wunderkind. At the University of Illinois, he was a student of a legendary Hardy Cross. The professor taught Fazlur Rahman Khan to feel the buildings, as a living thing. He imagined himself as a whole building and tried to experience every part of the construction, defining strengths and weaknesses. Once in interview Khan said that he visualizes the effects of natural powers the building suffers and tries to resist it in his designs. Khan used this architectural empathy while projecting the Hancock Center.

His Projects

Khan’s innovative tube design gave birth to a brand new cohort of skyscrapers, which were built efficiently and safely. The Empire State building construction was regarded as non- cost-effective, Chicago was in need of new ideas. Fazlur Rahman Khan shared one. He rejected the inner central supports of steel, instead offered the exterior support frame made up by series of vertical tubes. The frame has to create a soup rising, that protects against the possible earthquakes and strong high wind speeds. The frame
enables the extra area inside the building.

Firstly, he tested his theory on Chestnut building in Chicago, then Chicago’s most prominent John Hancock Center in 1968. At that time, after the Empire State, it was the second tallest building in the world. In comparison with the Empire State building which used 206 kilograms, the Hancock Center was much more efficient. It used 145 kilograms of steel per square meter. The tube structure proved to be the best.

In 1982 Fazlur Rahman Khan passed away. But his idea is still at the world’s top engineering designs. Tube design is still used for constructing contemporary skyscrapers, which makes Khan one of the most prominent architects and engineers in history. Additionally, he was a trailblazer in applying computer-aided design, and the one to contribute humanitarian assistance to his native country. Khan’s daughter says that her father believed that his work positively inspires and encourages the others. Once he emphasized that such technicians, as him must not lose themselves in technology only. The drama, art, music, life itself and living people are the true sources of inspiration.

Book Review: Rainbow Trilogy by Alex Sanchez (Guest Post)

Image result for rainbow boys

Rainbow Boys (Rainbow Trilogy #1)

Here, we follow three gay boys in high school who are still closeted apart from one of the boys. Now that’s the hardest period in a person who is LGBTQIA+. Something that I notice straight out was that the language has changed from then to now. For example, the word “queer” is given a bad light. However, the word “queer” is now being widely used in the LGBTQIA+ community. I felt that the wording is a bit outdated, and I didn’t like the cover, but that’s just my opinion. My rating is 2/5 stars.

Goodreads Blurb

Jason Carrillo is a jock with a steady girlfriend, but he can’t stop dreaming about sex…with other guys. Kyle Meeks doesn’t look gay, but he is. And he hopes he never has to tell anyone- especially his parents.

Nelson Glassman is “out” to the entire world, but he can’t tell the boy he loves that he wants to be more than just friends.

Three teenage boys, coming of age and out of the closet. In a revealing debut novel that percolates with passion and wit, Alex Sanchez follows these very different high-school seniors as their struggles with sexuality and intolerance draw them into a triangle of love, betrayal, and ultimately, friendship.

Rainbow High (Rainbow Trilogy #2)

In the second book, we see the boys growing up and trying to figure out who they are. In this book, the topics of HIV is dealt with and sexually transmitted diseases. One of the boys falls in love with a guy who was HIV positive, and that broke my heart. Sadly this is more common with same-sex relationship during unprotected sex. In my opinion, this book is better than the first. I gave this book three / five stars.

Goodreads Blurb

Jason Carrillo, the best-looking athlete in school, has had his eyes on the prize from day one: a scholarship for college. But then his eyes turn to love — and Kyle.

Kyle Meeks, swim team star and all- around good guy, is finally in the relationship he wanted. Being in love
feels so good, in fact, that he can’t imagine giving it up to go to Princeton.

Something he’s worked for his entire life.

Nelson Glassman, outgoing and defiant, might be HIV positive. Jeremy, the boy the loves, is HIV positive. Although Nelson fears testing positive, if he is infected Jeremy might stop protecting him and pushing him away.

They can be together.

High school’s almost over. Graduation is ahead. Life’s a bowl of cherries, right? Right…

Rainbow Road (Rainbow Trilogy #3)

So this is the end of the trilogy, and the boys go on a road trip right before going to college. Since Kyle ( one of the three) was invited to do a talk about coming out in one of the more LGBTQIA+ friendly colleges. We see relationships being tested and that tells that the main characters are human after all. I gave this book a three out of five stars.

Goodreads Blurb

Jason Carrillo came out to his basketball team senior year and lost his university scholarship. Now, with graduation behind him and summer ending, he’s asked to speak at the opening of a gay and lesbian high school across the country. But after spending years in the closet and losing his scholarship dream, what message can he offer?

Kyle Meeks is getting ready to go to Princeton in the fall and trying to see as much as possible of his boyfriend, Jason, before they have to separate. When Jason tells him about his speaking invitation, Kyle jumps at the chance to drive across country with him. Yet he can’t help worrying: Will their romance survive two weeks crammed together in a car?

Nelson Glassman is happy his best friend Kyle has found love with Jason. Now he’s looking for his own true love — and hopes he might find his soul mate during the road trip. But will being the “third wheel” in a trio ruin his friendships with Kyle and Jason?

During an eye-opening post-graduation summer road trip, each of the three very different
boys also embarks on a personal journey across a landscape of love, sexuality, homophobia,
and above all, friendship.

Makeup Products I Hated

Maybelline Strobing Stick- I’m a really big fan of Maybelline and I’ve liked almost all their products but this product just fell short. It didn’t have a great glow and it kind of just looked weird because you have to wear so much of it.

Image result for maybelline highlighter stick

E.L.F Highlighter- I’m a big fan of both E.L.F and powder highlighters so I thought this would work out great but I really hated this highlighter. I know some makeup guru’s/bloggers really like it but this just wasn’t for me.  It didn’t have that much glow and it was really flaky and hard to use.

E.L.F Lip Primer and Plumper– I didn’t have any particular problem with this product except that I don’t think it works. The primer part is fine but the plumper in my experience just didn’t work. I already have pretty large lips so I didn’t mind that much since it hydrated them really well and since it tingled it made them nice and pink but for someone who has smaller lips and is looking for an actual way to plump their lips this product is just not for you.

Image result for elf primer and plumper

Covergirl Mascara- Compared to other mascaras I’ve used this just doesn’t cut it. It looks okay but it really isn’t anything to brag about. It does make your lashes slightly darker and fuller but if you’re looking for a really full look this is not for you.

Nyx Stay Matte But Not Flat Foundation– This actually looked really good when I put it on but it really didn’t stay on well. After a few hours it started to smudge and move around and I ended up looking like a crazy person! I thought maybe the problem was me and I wasn’t using it right so I looked at other reviews and I saw that many people had similar experiences to mine. If you’re looking for a good matte foundation I would recommend Maybelline (not vegan or cruelty free) or ELF (vegan and cruelty free) or Eco Beauty Crew (cruelty free and has vegan options).
