Are You Guilty of Making These Mistakes?

The Art of Blogging

Some of the folks who offer “blogging advice” seem to be focusing on what you shouldn’t do instead of offering advice on what to do. Perhaps this is a more effective way to get certain points across?

Okay. Here are four of the biggest mistakes people make.

How I Got 1000 Followers In Two Months (And How You Can Too)

I was so excited to realize that I had recently reached 6000 WordPress followers which meant I had gained a little over 1000 followers in 2 months. This is the most followers I have gained in two months and I thought I would share some ways in which you can get more followers on your blog too- if you’re interested in gaining followers- if not don’t worry there are lots more posts on this blog with different topics you can check out. Hope these tips help!

Be very active– Blogging is a two way street. You can not expect people to like, follow or share you’re posts if you never do the same. I mean you don’t have to like every post every follower of yours puts out but at least make an effort to reply to comments and read and like some of the posts on your reader from the blogs you follow.

Be genuine– Your followers will be able to tell if you’re genuinely interested in something or are faking it for views and they will always enjoy the posts you are genuine in much more. Try to be genuine and write about things you are truly passionate about.

Edit well– Grammar mistakes and typos are a normal part of writing and it happens to everyone but when your posts have multiple grammar mistakes and a lot of typos it gets hard for the reader to read and breaks your flow. It also makes your blog look less professional and people are less likely to follow it. To get more followers try to take some time to edit your posts so that the reader gets the best experience possible and is way more likely to follow.

Use the right tags– Don’t overdo it with the tags but don’t stop using tags completely either. I would say about 5-10 is the right amount of tags to get more traffic to your blog which means more followers. Another thing is don’t lie in your tags- like for example don’t tag it ‘food’ if the post has nothing to do with food. It’s very annoying when people do that and it only makes people dislike you for lying.

Be organised– In my opinion, this is probably the most important one. Try to be organised and punctual with your posting. If you post randomly whenever you feel like you won’t get the optimum views and follows plus your followers will be confused and won’t know when to check your blog for new posts. After posting more regularly on a daily basis I have seen a huge difference in both my followers and views.

5 Ways To Make Your Blog Look More Professional

Get more traffic to your blog by making it look more professional!

lifesfinewhine

You do not need to necessarily have a super professional looking blog but it would help increase both traffic and followers. It would also help if you are thinking of attracting sponsors or working with other blogs as more companies are likely to work with you if you have a very professional looking blog. Anyway, here are some tips that might help you out

1. Edit- One of the first things people tend to notice is whether or not your post has been edited. It may not seem like a big deal and it may seem like your writing is fine but a lot of times when you reread your post you will find little mistakes you didn’t even realize you had made. Make sure to read through it at least once to check for spelling errors and grammar mistakes. A well edited post shows the reader that you have…

5 Social Media Marketing Do’s and Don’ts from a freelance Social Media Consultant

Really great tips!

ThisthingcalledFashion

5 Social Media Marketing Do’s and Don’ts, THISTHINGCALLEDFASHIONIt’s about time I wrote about this, not just from a social media consultants perspective but also as a blogger/influencer who has been disgusted by ill-mannered marketing approaches and blown away by well thought out messages.

DON’TS

Don’t be spammy.

Just don’t do it. Do not send DMs/comments requesting for a follow back or create a group and share a link to your new product/post without permission.

Don’t ignore comments: Engaging with your customers is vital for business. They feel heard & more relevant but with no engagement they may feel as if you don’t care about their question, comment or concern. It all comes back to customer service. Don’t ignore relevant comments. Use them as an opportunity to interact with your followers.

Don’t rely on automation: This aspect is still very new to Nigerian business which is a good thing on this case because the brands still maintain…

How To Have The Best Experience In University As An Introvert | Guest Post

Check out the collab post I wrote for Erin’s blog!

KittyJade

University can be a very confusing and terrifying time with so much going on and in my opinion it can be even harder when you are an introvert because you are forced into so many new situations and a lot of the time have to make a whole new set of friends. Here are my tips on how to have the best time as an introvert in university

  1. Don’t force yourself to be social- As a university student you may feel pressured to join a lot of clubs, go to parties and make a bunch of friends but that is not for everyone although it may seem like it. Of course it is great to go to parties, join clubs, meet new people and make new friends but don’t do it just for the sake of it until you are absolutely drained. Make sure to make time for yourself and…

My Experience Of Being An Introvert

The terms introvert and extrovert haven’t been used in my life up until about two months ago. I stumbled across a couple of blogs talking about introversion and decided that I wanted to find a definition. All it says on Google is this
Image result for introvert definition
and for an extrovert it says this
Image result for extrovert definition
I’m not shy, but I’m neither socially confident. This could mean that I am an ambivert (a mix of the two) but in the grand scale of things I’m closer to the introvert’s end of the scale and miles away from the extrovert’s.
Looking into unimportant definitions of peoples – from all of my overthinking – I found that I must be more of an introvert. To me, the definition is a broad term for someone who enjoys being around certain people but finds it awkward to build conversation or firmer relationships with people they have only just been introduced to. It takes a long time to a build a friendship, but when thrown into at a stage in life that you are comfortable at, it’s harder. At school you are told to grow and make friends. You may not be aware at your age about who you are going to be, and when you become an introvert it’s harder to make friends later in life (for me, but I’m not socially awkward. I’m a little bit shy and very unconfident but that’s not a definition of an introvert – that’s just me).
What I just described is a stereotype, and people will be different. If you are more confident to open up or to make conversations when thrown into a new situation, you are more of a extrovert. When I, an introvert, is thrown into these conversations I rely on someone else to start the conversation and I make little statements when I think I need to (or I just wont at all, and I’ll hide).
Introversion isn’t a fear to share your opinion. You may, but in a different medium (like written down words or images, rather than speaking loudly), and I try to use disclaimers so that I don’t try to hurt other people. The word is subtle.
An introvert isn’t perfect. Introverts aren’t good. We are not a different species, we are humans. It’s a way of describing yourself.
Introversion is the opposite of extroversion. Neither are wrong. One is not better than the other. You may not think of these adjectives often, or have identified yourself with either, but it’s something to consider and think about.
One of my greatest regrets is being outspoken, or not thinking before I blurt. It hasn’t hurt anyone but myself.
I want to embrace my introvert and not try to be someone I’m not, as an extrovert. This post is directed more at introversion because that is what I know of better. I know it’s late but Happy New Year! I hope you’ve embraced whatever ‘trovert’ you are.

I have written this post in collaboration with Pooja! We have both written separate posts to put on each other’s blogs. If you wouldn’t mind checking out my blog to see Pooja’s post about How To Have The Best Experience In University as an Introvert!

How To Get More Followers On Your Blog For Free

lifesfinewhine

When I started out I had no idea how to get more traffic or followers and it was kind of a tough learning process. I actually almost gave up on my blog and if it hadn’t been for those two followers I had I may have actually given up on blogging altogether which is a scary thought! But thankfully I kept blogging and I eventually started gaining followers and got more traffic. Here are some of the ways I did that:

Reach Out- If you want other bloggers to view your posts and leave you likes, comments and follows you should be doing the same! Especially if you’re just starting out it’s a good idea to check out other peoples blogs- not only will you learn new things from them you’ll also start getting your own name out there. It helps to leave comments because then they’ll notice you and most…

How Many Of My Resolutions Did I Keep

So before this year started I posted a bunch of resolutions that I wanted to achieve this year which is not something I usually do because I’m not a big fan of the whole making resolutions thing but a bunch of other bloggers were doing it and it seemed fun so I thought I would give it a try. So I thought since the year is almost over which resolutions I kept and which ones didn’t work out as planned! To check out the resolutions post click here.

Make more time for blogging

This was the first resolution I had on the list and thankfully I have kept it… for the most part. I mean sure sometimes I get lazy or really busy and can’t post regularly but especially recently I feel as though my excitement and inspiration for blogging has really come back and I have been trying to blog at least 5 times a week which has been amazing! It has really helped increase traffic and followers and most importantly it has given me more enthusiasm to write more!

Eat healthier

I started eating a plant-based and much healthier diet. I mean I’m not going to act like I did not eat any junk food because you know I did but I ate healthier junk food and a much healthier diet in general which is what I think counts! I love this resolution because it really made the biggest impact in my life and I genuinely feel better then ever thanks to the changes in my diet!

Write at least one page a day

I tried you guys. I really did. But I’ve been super busy and I just have not had the time or energy to keep up with this one. But maybe next year!

I’m a history major so a large part of my studies is just reading so I didn’t have a lot of time to read other stuff but I did read a couple of books that I wanted to review which was so fun. Plus, I think it counts as reading even if it’s historical sources and stuff!

Build a snowman (that one’s just for fun!)

This one hasn’t happened yet but there’s still time!
