How I Got 1000 Followers In Two Months (And How You Can Too)

I was so excited to realize that I had recently reached 6000 WordPress followers which meant I had gained a little over 1000 followers in 2 months. This is the most followers I have gained in two months and I thought I would share some ways in which you can get more followers on your blog too- if you’re interested in gaining followers- if not don’t worry there are lots more posts on this blog with different topics you can check out. Hope these tips help!

Be very active– Blogging is a two way street. You can not expect people to like, follow or share you’re posts if you never do the same. I mean you don’t have to like every post every follower of yours puts out but at least make an effort to reply to comments and read and like some of the posts on your reader from the blogs you follow.

Be genuine– Your followers will be able to tell if you’re genuinely interested in something or are faking it for views and they will always enjoy the posts you are genuine in much more. Try to be genuine and write about things you are truly passionate about.

Edit well– Grammar mistakes and typos are a normal part of writing and it happens to everyone but when your posts have multiple grammar mistakes and a lot of typos it gets hard for the reader to read and breaks your flow. It also makes your blog look less professional and people are less likely to follow it. To get more followers try to take some time to edit your posts so that the reader gets the best experience possible and is way more likely to follow.

Use the right tags– Don’t overdo it with the tags but don’t stop using tags completely either. I would say about 5-10 is the right amount of tags to get more traffic to your blog which means more followers. Another thing is don’t lie in your tags- like for example don’t tag it ‘food’ if the post has nothing to do with food. It’s very annoying when people do that and it only makes people dislike you for lying.

Be organised– In my opinion, this is probably the most important one. Try to be organised and punctual with your posting. If you post randomly whenever you feel like you won’t get the optimum views and follows plus your followers will be confused and won’t know when to check your blog for new posts. After posting more regularly on a daily basis I have seen a huge difference in both my followers and views.

5 Ways To Save Money Shopping Online

Do your research- I think this is the most important one of all. Google is your best friend when you’re shopping online. Before you buy anything make sure to check on multiple sites to find the best price you can. You should also reviews to make sure the product your getting is worth the price. Some online stores also have student discounts and other such discounts so make sure to do all your research and find out about these.

Sleep on it- I don’t know about you guys but when I start adding things to the cart I tend to go a little crazy with it and add a bunch of stuff I don’t need as well. To avoid wasting money on unnecessary items let the items stay in your cart for a day or two and really think about whether you need them or not. Then go back and remove anything unnecessary. Another perk of waiting a day or two to check out is that some sites see that you haven’t checked out yet and send you a promo code for a discount to give you extra incentive to check out.

Wait for discounts- Always find out when the site you’re using has discounts. Most sites have Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals as well as discounts at the end of each season so if you can wait it out you definitely should.

Image result for discount gif

Birthday deals- A lot of sites also offer you a discount or free products on your birthday so if you can wait until then you may end up getting a better price.

Always check the shipping cost- A lot of times when something sounds too good to be true it usually is. If something is being sold super they may be charging a lot for shipping. Shipping is often how they get you so always make sure to check how much shipping costs before you actually buy something.

How To Have The Best Experience In University As An Introvert | Guest Post

Check out the collab post I wrote for Erin’s blog!

KittyJade

University can be a very confusing and terrifying time with so much going on and in my opinion it can be even harder when you are an introvert because you are forced into so many new situations and a lot of the time have to make a whole new set of friends. Here are my tips on how to have the best time as an introvert in university

  1. Don’t force yourself to be social- As a university student you may feel pressured to join a lot of clubs, go to parties and make a bunch of friends but that is not for everyone although it may seem like it. Of course it is great to go to parties, join clubs, meet new people and make new friends but don’t do it just for the sake of it until you are absolutely drained. Make sure to make time for yourself and…

Tips For Making Your Transition To Veganism Easier

Here are some tips to make your transition to veganism easier whether you’re doing Veganuary or thinking of a permanent lifestyle/diet change. Hope they help!

Image result for good luck gif

Wait a while before trying substitutes- Your taste buds get really used to the taste of non-vegan food if you have, like most people, been eating them your whole life. However, your taste buds slowly change over time and if you start introducing vegan substitutes slowly into your meals you’ll begin to enjoy them more. If you just randomly start using substitutes you’re more likely to not enjoy them because they won’t be the exact same as what you’re used to. Personally, I hated cheese substitutes when I first tried them but now after about a year I love them!

Image result for give it time gif

Try substitutes- I would suggest start add vegan substitutes to your food before you even go fully vegan. And don’t be afraid of substitutes. They’re a great way to eat what you love just that these will be plant based. I’m going to be honest and tell you that not all substitutes are great but keep looking and of course do your research. Don’t give up because you can’t find great substitutes instead read what other vegans have to say and what substitutes they love.

Appreciate that vegan foods taste different- Like I said substitutes aren’t always great and even though some of them are really close to the non-plant based foods they are not always the exact same. I’ve noticed a lot of people like to compare vegan foods to non-vegan foods by making them look, smell and taste like non-vegan food (which is great if you’re into that!) but instead of always trying to eat substitutes I would recommend trying to enjoy vegan food for what it is. It tastes unique and wonderful and a vegan diet can open up your taste buds to a whole variety of new tastes and flavours so try to enjoy them for what they are.

Do a lot of research- Before going fully vegan (and even after!) make sure to do a lot of research so you don’t end up lacking vitamins or negatively effecting your health. Veganism is not always easy and it takes a while to get it perfectly right.

Image result for research gif

Don’t give up- A lot of people give up on veganism after a while. Some think it’s too hard while some have health issues. My advice would be that instead of giving up try doing more research. If you’re lacking something do research on how to get that on a vegan diet and try that first. If you absolutely feel like it’s not working for you though don’t force yourself to keep eating vegan.

The 5 Essentials I Can’t Travel Without!

Travelling can be super fun but it can also turn into a nightmare really fast if you don’t do it right. These are somethings I’ve picked up that are sure to put a positive spin on your travels!

Reading material- Always carry something to read while travelling because it can get super boring. If you want to see the scenery or something that’s fine but if you’re flying or aren’t super interested in the scenery I would suggest definitely bringing along something to read.

Image result for reading gif

Makeup- To see the full list of makeup items I travel with click here. I usually travel with at least some makeup items because travelling can really take it out of you and you might end up looking exhausted so having a couple of makeup items can help you look fresh and awake even after a long journey.

An extra pair of clothing- Just in case you get stuck somewhere remember to carry along a fresh pair of clothes and if you’re able to, a towel. It really saved me when I missed my flight!

Snacks- Let’s be honest- plan food is usually the worst. Getting good food can be difficult when you’re travelling and ironically you need good food when you’re travelling because it can be very tiring and exhausting. Make sure to carry some filling snacks so that you can stay energized during your travels.

Medicine- It’s always a good idea to keep some stomach/flu medicine with you just in case. If you’re a anxious flyer some anti-anxiety/sleep medication would also be a good idea. It’s hard and sometimes not possible to find medicine while travelling and that’s why you should always carry some with you.

5 Tips for Self-Care and Coping with Anxiety

Really good tips!

Do Not Disturb

I started this blog because I really wanted an outlet to discuss self-care and self love, two things I struggle with and I know I’m not alone. But what is self-care? I’m no expert and am not pretending to be. I’m just a normal girl, going through life, and trying to figure out the best ways to deal with it all: work, relationships, family, etc. Even when I find new outlets for releasing stress or giving myself a mental health break, they don’t always work. I have good days and bad days, ups and downs. Sometimes, I can’t pinpoint what is dragging me down or depleting my motivation for the day. Other days, I completely surprise myself with how much I can accomplish.

For me, the basis of self-care starts with being able to read your body and mind and listening to them when they are asking for help. Of…

5 Makeup Products I Can’t Travel Without

Moisturizer- This is my number one must have for travelling. It’s really easy to get dry skin or even damage your skin when you’re travelling since it’s not always something you think about when travelling but it’s important. Plus, just putting on a little moisturizer especially on your face can make you look brighter and more awake even when you’re not feeling that way after a long trip!

BB Cream- It’s like foundation but lighter and looks more natural. I always prefer using a BB Cream when travelling instead of a foundation because foundations are really heavy and after a while my face starts feeling like it’s painted on if the journey is too long. BB creams are much more comfortable to wear when travelling and they cover up your blemishes while giving you a more natural look.

Lip Balm- When you’re travelling it’s easy to get dehydrated and your lips might end up looking like you came back from the dead by the end of the journey. Lip balm will keep your lips looking and feeling soft and hydrated and I that’s why I always prefer to use lip balm instead of lipstick or lip gloss.

Image result for lip balm gif

Highlighter- This is one of those makeup items that I need with me at all times. I love how hydrated and awake adding just a little bit of highlighter makes you look even if you don’t have any other makeup on. It is definitely an essential makeup product when travelling!

Image result for highlighter gif

Eyebrow Pencil- Waking up and realizing your eyebrows are no longer on fleek or even worse have been smudged off completely is horrible. Always carry an eyebrow pencil (or whatever product/products you use for your eyebrows) with you at all times when travelling!

Top Tips for Veganuary 2019

Good luck to everyone trying out veganuary I hope these tips help!

That Vegan Polerina

This new year is set to be the biggest for participation in Veganuary (a challenge to try the vegan lifestyle for the month of January). Living a vegan lifestyle has become and is becoming increasingly easier, with a wide range of products landing in shops around the world, but as with any lifestyle and diet change, it is not without its challenges.

As a “new” vegan (I transitioned late September 2018), I thought I’d share my favourite tips, tricks, and words of advice regarding the journey into veganism. Best of luck to everyone participating in Veganuary, or otherwise beginning their vegan transition in 2019!

  1. Educate yo’self!!!  There are a number of reasons why people participate in Veganuary/are interested in trying veganism, but three main reasons people stay vegan are 1) for the animals, 2) for the planet, and 3) for their own health (or any combination of these reasons). Whether you…

5 Ways To Save Money While In University

When I first started university I had no idea just how expensive it would be. Everyone talks about how expensive the tuition fees are but in reality that’s just the tip of the iceberg. In fact, if you don’t make an effort to try to keep your expenses low it’s easy to end up spending way over budget. Here are some ways I found to help keep living costs down:

Image result for cooking gif

Meals

Even though it sounds really tempting to eat out as much as you can since university can be overwhelming and leaves little time for cooking it can also be very expensive to do so. Instead of eating out all the time or ordering in, try things like meal planning. You can keep your ingredients ready or make more food and freeze some for later. This will save both your time and money.

Image result for buy in bulk gif

Buy in bulk

Although some things get spoilt/expired if kept for too long a lot of things that we use on a daily basis don’t. If you know there are certain items that you will be using regularly make sure to buy them in bulk such as toilet paper, tissue paper, water bottles etc.

Image result for taking the bus gif

Transportation

Whether it’s paying for gas, an Uber or a Taxi, transportation can be expensive but there are a few ways to travel without actually paying too much for it! For example, check out your bus timings because using the bus instead of using your car can really save a lot of money(plus it’s way better for the environment!)

Living expenses

Living expenses can end up being really expensive especially while you’re still a student. However, because you’re a student many people do offer student discounts so remember to ask them if they offer this before paying for something. Plus, try to keep living expenses low by shutting off lights when you’re not using them or getting a roommate to split the expenses with.

Used items

Universities often expect you to buy a lot of things such as textbooks which are not affordable whatsoever! However, getting used items can really keep the cost at a minimal. A lot of universities do sell used textbooks and other used items so be sure to check these out before actually buying something new.

As you guys know I have dry skin and I think these tips are super helpful especially with winter around the corner!

Beautyholics101

Hello my loves! As December rolls upon us i thought i would delight you guys with some tips and tricks for dry skin. As i have mentioned before in previous blogs, i have suffered from dry hair, oily hair and dry and oily skin throughout my life. So i understand how hard the struggle is.

Here are some things that i did to help my dry skin feel less bothersome.

I found that after taking showers often times made my skin feel worse afterwards. You would think that all you have to do is put on some lotion. FALSE! There are times when not even lotion would help.

Don’t take long showers:

I know how relaxing a good long 30min shower can feel after a long day, but having your skin in the water for that long really isnt good for your skin. Try and limit your showers to 5-10…
