Trying Out Arbonne’s ‘Calm’ Products

I was lucky enough to get a bunch of Arbonne samples in the mail recently and decided to do some reviews. for this post I’ll be reviewing their ‘calm’ products- Gentle Daily Cleanser, Soothing Facial Serum, Gentle Daily Moisturizer, Soothing Eye Gel- which are great for people with sensitive skin.

Scent- I was really happy to see that it was unscented because like I’ve said before a lot of times when products are scented it really irritates my skin which is very sensitive and prone to eczema. So if you have sensitive skin or don’t like scented products in general I would definitely recommend Arbonne since all their products are unscented.

Effect- they were really effective and did exactly what they were supposed to do. I especially liked the moisturizer which was one of those where a little goes a long way and since my skin is on the dryer side i prefer moisturizers that don’t get over every 2 days.

Feel- they felt really great especially the soothing eye gel and the soothing facial serum. They were very cool and they felt absolutely wonderful on my skin and the eye gel did in fact kind of get rid of some of the darkness under my eyes (I only used it for 2 weeks but I’m guessing if you use it for longer it could get rid almost all it).

Ethics- it’s vegan, gluten free, non-GMO, Kosher and cruelty free so if you’re looking for something that will have less impact on the environment and that’s truly organic I would definitely recommend you try it out!

Price- I think this is the only thing I found that would make me rethink buying a lot of Arbonne products because it is on the expensive side. If you can afford to spend a little more on products then this is perfect for you but if you’re someone like me who’s in school and doesn’t have the best budget then you might want to look through their site and see what’s on sale or on the cheaper side. I will say though that if you can afford these products they are totally worth it!

Addis Ababa Part 2- Food

If you haven’t read the first blog post about my time in Ethiopia you can check it out here.

I felt like I needed to do an entire post just dedicated to all the amazing food we ate because there were so many things and it was just so delicious. I was really surprised to begin with because they had so many vegan and vegetarian dishes.

Our meals included their traditional Injera bread which is naturally vegan and gluten free. The rice was also really flavourful and delicious- usually mixed with some stir fried vegetables.

The buns were also absolutely amazing. They were super soft and chewy and so delicious. The darker bun was a traditional Ethiopian one that was salted at the bottom and they told us they usually make it in a pan rather then bake it. It was sort of crispy on the outside and very soft on the inside- the taste kind of reminded me of a pretzel.

Addis Ababa Part 1- Travels And Sightseeing

Since we were in Ethiopia for 2 days we decided to do a little exploring. We asked at the hotel what places we should visit and he gave us a map with the most popular tourist destinations and so we decided to check them out.

First we decided to head to Entoto Hill which has the most beautiful view of Addis Ababa. It was absolutely gorgeous!!

Also around that area was a cathedral and a smaller museum that we absolutely loved!

Next we hurried to the National Museum which was going to close soon. It was absolutely fascinating. Different floors had different exhibitions. The first floor had archeological artifacts, the second floor had paintings and art and the ground floor had paleontological replicas and bones.

Then we did a little shopping and got a few beautiful souvenirs to remember this wonderful trip by. We even explored the hotel which was filled with amazing art and culture.

Also I really have to say that one of the reasons we had such a great time was because the people there were so great! They were super friendly and helpful and inviting. Plus, they were so proud of the culture they had managed to preserve for all these years and they were just happy to share it with us as we were to learn about it!

My Crazy Flight

So I’m back in Canada- we arrived yesterday and oh boy do I have a crazy story for you!

It was super rainy in Nairobi so our flight got delayed and consequently we missed our flight to Toronto and I was stuck in Ethiopia for 2 days which was a true blessing in disguise because I had the most amazing time ever! The food was amazing and the country is so beautiful. There is so much greenery everywhere I was blown away. I’m super busy at the moment getting everything ready for school and stuff but I will absolutely be posting lots of pictures of it as soon as I get some time as well as some more details of all the places we visited. Just wanted to post a little update before that.

A No From The Universe

If you’re wondering why I haven’t posted in a while it’s because the universe hates me. My laptop’s screen broke again and I had to get it replaced. Luckily I’ve got it back now and it’s fine.

Anyway, just wanted to give you a little update on what’s going on with me. On Thursday, we decided to go to this place called Village Market and it ended up being super fun! It has a really artsy vibe and it’s just such a fun place although it’s really big so it takes forever to get from one end to the other!

We ended up going to one of my favourite bookstores in Kenya called Between The Lines which is just so pretty!

Haha, just kidding I actually just have a bit of a cold right now which sucks so I probably won’t post much this week.

I decided not to take any medicine and I’m just taking a few herbal things which are seriously helping so I hope I’m better by the end of the week and I can start blogging again regularly!

The Concord Hotel

This is another place in Nairobi that I really enjoy going to. It’s so beautiful and as soon as you walk in you’re surrounded by beautiful artwork!

DusitD2

As you guys know I’ve been back in Nairobi for a while and I thought I would explore a little and go see some new places I’ve never been to before. This post is actually coming in a little late because we visited the place like 3 weeks ago.

Anyway we decided to first check out the Rouge Deck which is by far the coolest place I’ve been to recently! It’s located in DusitD2 which is actually a hotel but has a lot of cool things too! They have a red pool and there’s a sitting area in the pool- like right in it- which is why it’s called the Rouge Deck! That was a really bad description to be honest so just check out the pictures below to get a better idea of what it looks like!

Once we were done with our drinks we decided to check out the rest of DusitD2. First we checked out the super awesome looking restaurants which also have vegan and vegetarian options!

Then we decided to go see their studio which was the prettiest place ever with some amazing artwork!

Later we decided to explore a little more, however, some of the floors are restricted but we were lucky enough to go see them anyway!

Overall, I had an amazing time! They have some amazing restaurants if you’re interested in going to eat, they have some super cute little stores if you’re in the mood to buy something and if you just want to hang out and have some drinks the Rouge Lounge is absolutely the perfect place for it!

How To Relax

I know this is a bit of a random “how-to” but the truth is that our lives have become so fast and we’re so used to doing something that we have kind of forgotten how to relax and do nothing for a while. We’re always stressed about something or the other and we’re constantly thinking of the future instead of concentrating on the present. Our brain is always switched on no matter what and sometimes we just need to turn it off for a while. Here are some things you can do to relax your mind and just switch off your brain for a bit!

Yoga– If you’re a beginner in yoga try some super easy beginner poses and if you’re used to doing yoga try out some harder poses that help you relax. There are lots of specific poses that are there to help you calm down and feel at ease. Yoga definitely helps keep your mind off everything that’s stressing you out and it makes you physically and psychologically healthier!

Meditation– I’m not going to lie, this is much harder than most people think. Meditation is great but you need some practice before you learn to not let your mind drift. However once you learn how to do it right it’s a great way to switch off your brain and just relax.

Watch TV– TV is always a great way to take it easy and relax! It helps distract your mind for a while from life! I would recommend watching something intense so you’re really into it.

Hobbies- Instead of stressing out or letting your brain run free do something you enjoy doing like cooking, makeup, reading, playing an instrument etc. It’s always a good distraction and a great opportunity to take some time off from your schedule and do something for yourself that you like!

Eat- Honestly, there is no problem food can’t solve! If you’re on a diet have a delicious salad with extra dressing and if not I would recommend stuffing your face with pizza (that always works for me). Food helps you forget about your problems and concentrate on the present.
