I’m Free!

So my midterms finally ended yesterday and I’m finally a little more free! I’m getting some Korean food tomorrow (because I literally love Korean food so much!!) and planning on relaxing a little! I still have a psychology quiz left but it’s online and pretty easy!

The midterms went okay but not great. I’ll get the results next week!

So…

I’ve been thinking about starting another blog and maybe a YouTube channel about cooking and with recipes. I don’t know if I actually will but I’m toying with the idea right now.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Happy Thanksgiving to all the Canadians! Hope you all have lots of fun and get to spend time with your families!

Motivational Monday?

So usually Mondays are the day I have ‘motivational’ posts mostly quotes that I like and find inspiring but I have had such a rough day today I just don’t have anything inspirational to say.

Before I tell you the story of my day I would like to point out that I really enjoy studying at Brock and there are always negatives and positives in everything. This particular incident happens to be negative.

So I’m taking a History course that I kind of had to take because I’m majoring in History so it’s mandatory but I was looking forward to it because it’s different than any other course I’ve ever taken before. It is slightly boring sometimes but it’s still pretty interesting most of the times. Unfortunately, the universe does not seem to want me to enjoy this course because for some reason something or the other comes up that ruins it.

Firstly, it’s on Monday morning. Like why? Juts why are there even lessons on Monday morning??

Secondly, my seminar got cancelled and they didn’t even email me about it which I thought was kind of unprofessional. Like you email me a bunch of university crap about events I couldn’t care less about but you don’t email me about my seminar being cancelled? To be fair it was shown on my schedule but I had just taken a screenshot of it earlier and I didn’t really bother checking again and I didn’t realise I would have had to. I’m also not used to checking everything online since it’s the first time I’m doing that and we never really did much online in Kenya.

That brings us to today. I had to hand in an assignment and apparently I can’t hand it in till I go to the Registrar’s Office and change my schedule. I started going to the Wednesday seminar but I hadn’t been able to officially change my schedule because it takes forever in the registrar’s office and I had gone there earlier but I waited for 2 hours and then had to leave because it wasn’t my turn yet and I had a class. And no one told me that I would have to go to the Registrar’s Office before I have to hand in the assignment. Is it really that hard to give me those details? I’m a new student and I don’t know how the system works. So now I need to go tomorrow and get it done before 2 in the afternoon and I’ll have to miss my Earth Science lecture because there’s not other way and I’m so mad because I’m already falling behind in Earth Science and I like going for the lecture because at least with the explanations I can understand better.

I mean everything is online in this university so why do I have to go to the stupid office for the seminar? And they’re the ones who cancelled the seminar so isn’t it their job to put me in another one? I feel like they’re trying to make me do their job for them and I hate that.

Sorry for the rant I’m just very mad right now.

My Classes And Joining A Club

Philosophy– Okay so this is my new favourite subject!! It’s so deep and interesting and it’s the only subjecting where having multiple existential crisis actually helps you get good marks! And the cherry on top? My professor is absolutely hilarious and looks like George Lucas!

Psychology- So we’re basically learning stuff I’ve learnt in High School again which is awesome because it means I don’t have to work excessively hard and I already understand what the professor is talking about!

Sociology- It’s REALLY interesting!! I am going to learn about Karl Marx soon which I’m really looking forward to!

Earth Science- Okay I’m not going to lie it’s a lot more difficult than I thought it was but it’s also really interesting! Minus when we learn about rocks. That’s kind of boring to me.

History- Okay again I’m not going to lie the course I’m taking right now is boring. It’s not horrible it’s just a bit boring. I mean how much can you know about The British Isles? Apparently a lot.

And the club I joined was of course *drum roll* CREATIVE WRITERS CLUB!! The boy who’s in charge of it looks a bit like Augustus from The Fault In Our Stars 😂 I really hope he doesn’t read this post…

My Week In Review

Sunday:

Turns out I couldn’t find my passport and after freaking out a little I realised I had forgotten it in the Bank. So unfortunately the bank wasn’t open till Tuesday because of Labour Day on Monday so I was kind of screwed.

Monday:

I had went to the orientation for international students at Brock. This was the first time I saw the University and it was huge! And yes I got lost a lot! I made some cool friends who seem really interesting and awesome!

Tuesday:

Went to the bank and got my passport back!! Yayyyy! Had Taco Bell which I’m kind of obsessed with right now!

Wednesday:

Got prepared for my first day at university by buying a bunch of stationery and notebooks at the dollar store! It was way more interesting than it sounds…

Thursday:

Had my first set of classes (Philosophy, Sociology and Earth Science!). They were super interesting and my teachers seem super smart and super interesting! Finally got my ID and Bus Pass! Made a friend!

Friday:

Had Psychology at 1. It was soooooo amazing I can not wait for the class to really start teaching! I just love Psychology so much!! Made another friend and saw a cute cat too! Also found a cool thrift store with second hand books!

I also checked out the clubs offered at my university and am deciding what to join.

My Canadian Experience

A lot has changed in the past few days. I’m in a foreign country where I know absolutely no one, have no idea where anything is located and I haven’t found an apartment to stay in yet however I have no anxiety at all what so ever. Since I have landed in Canada my anxiety and insomnia have seemed to completely disappear. I don’t know why or how but for some reason Canada has a way of making people feel as if they’re finally home. Like you’ve finally reached the destination you’ve been looking for your entire life. No I haven’t had only good experiences but I haven’t had any horrible experiences either. Seeing new places, trying new things, just being somewhere else is exhilarating. I love travelling and new experiences and this has been the best one yet.

I unfortunately couldn’t get pictures of everything because I’m lazy but I did get pictures of the food (duh!). As you may or may not know I’m trying to go vegan so I decided to try out a vegan place in St. Catharines called Rise Above. I think it’s the only place in St. Catharines that is completely vegan (it also has gluten free options) and no they are not sponsoring me to write all this 😂

So I have orientation tomorrow which I’m really looking forward to! Tell you more about it when I get some time!
