Oh My God gif

I honestly had a totally different post planned for today but I woke up and to my surprise I realised this blog had reached 6000+ followers!

I have started posting regularly over the last few months and honestly it’s been amazing. You guys have been so sweet and supportive of all the posts. I know it takes me a while before I respond to comments but I’m busy with school too so I’m sure you can understand. I will however try to respond to all the comments as fast as I can.

Tips For Making Your Transition To Veganism Easier

Here are some tips to make your transition to veganism easier whether you’re doing Veganuary or thinking of a permanent lifestyle/diet change. Hope they help!

Wait a while before trying substitutes- Your taste buds get really used to the taste of non-vegan food if you have, like most people, been eating them your whole life. However, your taste buds slowly change over time and if you start introducing vegan substitutes slowly into your meals you’ll begin to enjoy them more. If you just randomly start using substitutes you’re more likely to not enjoy them because they won’t be the exact same as what you’re used to. Personally, I hated cheese substitutes when I first tried them but now after about a year I love them!

Try substitutes- I would suggest start add vegan substitutes to your food before you even go fully vegan. And don’t be afraid of substitutes. They’re a great way to eat what you love just that these will be plant based. I’m going to be honest and tell you that not all substitutes are great but keep looking and of course do your research. Don’t give up because you can’t find great substitutes instead read what other vegans have to say and what substitutes they love.

Appreciate that vegan foods taste different- Like I said substitutes aren’t always great and even though some of them are really close to the non-plant based foods they are not always the exact same. I’ve noticed a lot of people like to compare vegan foods to non-vegan foods by making them look, smell and taste like non-vegan food (which is great if you’re into that!) but instead of always trying to eat substitutes I would recommend trying to enjoy vegan food for what it is. It tastes unique and wonderful and a vegan diet can open up your taste buds to a whole variety of new tastes and flavours so try to enjoy them for what they are.

Do a lot of research- Before going fully vegan (and even after!) make sure to do a lot of research so you don’t end up lacking vitamins or negatively effecting your health. Veganism is not always easy and it takes a while to get it perfectly right.

Don’t give up- A lot of people give up on veganism after a while. Some think it’s too hard while some have health issues. My advice would be that instead of giving up try doing more research. If you’re lacking something do research on how to get that on a vegan diet and try that first. If you absolutely feel like it’s not working for you though don’t force yourself to keep eating vegan.

Top Tips for Veganuary 2019

This new year is set to be the biggest for participation in Veganuary (a challenge to try the vegan lifestyle for the month of January). Living a vegan lifestyle has become and is becoming increasingly easier, with a wide range of products landing in shops around the world, but as with any lifestyle and diet change, it is not without its challenges.

5 Really Great Vegan Substitutes

Finding the right vegan substitutes can be really difficult- you end up trying a bunch of things before you actually find something great! so I thought I’d help you guys out and let you know some of the substitutes I am really loving right now!

1. Earth Balance Butter- I used to love butter! I used to put it in pretty much everything and when I stopped eating dairy butter I was kind of sad because honestly I did miss it but after a bit of research and trying a few different brands I finally found Earth Balance’s non-dairy butter! It is delicious, creamy, light and amazing and most of the times I can’t even tell that it’s not dairy butter.

2. Earth Island Cheese- Again, I LOVED cheese before I went vegan. I always used to joke around and say that I could add cheese to anything and it would taste amazing. Out of everything I gave up I think cheese was the hardest for me because I liked it the most and ate waaaayyyy too much of it. I’m not going to lie and tell you this tastes just like the real thing because it doesn’t but it tastes wonderful in it’s own way. Out of all the vegan cheeses that I’ve tried (which have been A LOT) this one tastes the closest to real cheese and it also has a pretty similar texture too. It cooks really well as well. Some vegan cheese tastes a little off but since one of the main ingredients of this is potato starch it actually tastes really great and doesn’t have a weird aftertaste. I would definitely recommend trying it out if you’re looking for a cheese substitute.

3. Mother In Law’s Kimchi- I love Korean food and one of my favourites is Kimchi. However, most traditional kimchi is not vegan and therefore not all companies can make good vegan Kimchi. However, Mother In Law’s is absolutely amazing- it’s not too spicy, it tastes fermented but not too much and the jar is really big so it really lasts a while!

4. Kettle Chips- A lot of junk food isn’t vegan and a lot of potato chips have whey powder added to them. However, I love my junk food and if you’re like me try out Kettle’s vegan potato chips. They have lot’s of flavours and are amazing in taste and texture! My favourite flavours so far are Sriracha and Jalapeno.

5. Silk Milk- I love non-dairy milk but not all brands make it just right. Sometimes it can taste kind of watered down or just weird but Silk’s nondairy milk tastes absolutely amazing! It’s creamy, sweet and delicious. Definitely one of my favourite brands for nondairy milk.

As a vegan who loves to travel I know just how hard it is to find places that offer vegan options and therefore when triptipedia asked if I wanted to share my tip about how to find vegan/vegetarian food when travelling I was quick to say yes and share this tip!
