My name is Pooja. I was born and raised in Kenya but I’m ethnically Indian. I speak both English and Gujarati and I’m currently trying to learn some German . I am studying history and sociology in Canada at university at the moment. I love writing too and someday hope to write a novel. I’m a little indifferent and definitely an introvert but I like being that way.

Some of my interests include reading, writing, music, photography, science, astronomy and history.

My favourite TV shows and movies include Star Wars, Game of Thrones, How To Get Away With Murder, Empire, Sherlock, Friends, Entourage, Foxfire, Sid and Nancy, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Silence of the Lambs, 30 Rock, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, and Riverdale .

My favourite books include Harry Potter (the whole series), 50 Shades, Foxfire: Confessions of a Girl Gang, Manuscripts Found in Accra, The Secret, Scar Tissue, The Child Called It, Accidental Death of an Anarchist, Matilda, Catch 22 and anything by John Green.

Some musicians I like are Joan Jett And The Blackhearts, Sex Pistols, The Beatles, Queen, My Chemical Romance, Nirvana, Alanis Morrisette, The Smiths, James Bay, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Bon Jovi, Guns n Roses, John Frusciante, P!nk, Jeff Buckley, Kid Rock, Eminem.

Other things I enjoy include meditating and hanging out with friends.

This blog is mainly about poetry, psychology, inspiration, positivity and other things I find interesting.

  1. Hi there. I spent 20 years in Bharat Mata but only visited Kenya once. Being Gujarati I somehow imagined it would be PoojaP, the P for Patel but obviously not. You should find German somewhat easy as the sentence construction and masculine and feminine gender treatment are similar. My wife learned Hindi quickly because of her knowledge of German. 🙂

    1. Wow that’s amazing! I’ve never actually been to India but I’ve heard so many great things about it I hope I can go someday. Yeah a lot of Gujarati’s are Patel’s but I’m not. Yeah I’ve noticed that German is quite similar and I think it has made it easier for me to learn it.

  2. Several decades ago my English professor told me I was the only woman he ever met who really liked Catch-22. Glad I’m not the only one! Good to see your musical tastes are varied (I saw Joan Jett in concert a long time ago — amazing).
    Stay awesome!

  3. Thank you for stopping by my blog and liking my thought for yesterday. Your “About Me” was pulling me in and then I noticed that you didn’t mention Pink Floyd and my heart sank a wee bit.
I have one novel out there but only in the cyber world as an e-book. Writing can carry you along a story line like a river or it can get you stuck, mired down in the mud. The key to remember is not to force it, and when your mind does not want to write, there is nothing your fingers can do to change it. 🙂 have a great day young lady! ~RI~

    1. Well you’re doing something right which is why I found you! I actually like to check out new blogs that are starting out and support them because it’s always harder at the beginning. Best of luck I’m sure you’re blog will grow in no time!

  4. Lovely read! Wishing you all the best for 2019 ahead!

If you like, I was going to link to your blog in my next Sunshine Blogger Award. No need to participate in the personal quiz if you can’t/prefer not to, but would you like your blog signposted for new readers to check out?

  5. there must be something you like about my work because you keep coming back for more I consider that a supreme compliment in itself and there’s a reason I don’t think you spend all your time going around reading people’s posts and liking them because you don’t ‘like’ everything I throw out there. so, it’s a great feeling as you know to connect thought processes in terms of giving people another way to think a different way from point A through D but NOT through through B and C.

But I see you there and when I see you there I know I’ve done something good … I’ve written something well and interesting, I THINK it’s confirmation that I have told a story and perhaps told it well … or well enough to merit recognition on a very personal level and gosh … jeez …. wull ….. ok, well, thank you for liking the words I’ve been able to convey onto the page. (I never take full credit for anything I’ve written. I tell people I’m just the postman).

I write a lot about nature. I write about trees and wind and a place I go to next to an inland sea that surrounds the state of Michigan in the U.S. as you can see it is shaped like a mitten and it’s a peninsula surrounded by the Great Lakes which are not lakes at all but we like to call them lakes … rather, they are inland seas of purest glacier water left over from when the glaciers scourged over what is now Michigan then, further down then, as the glaciers melted, they formed the land and water.

the rest of the year we live in shitty florida, six months of jungle six months of sunshine low humidity .. nice …

it’s really very nice of you to stop by I love to see your name and sometimes say it during the day! ks

I have a reverence for what I write about and I think we both share those feelings …….. thanks ks

I think I;m a foodie and I love cooking too. I’m not much of a baker though I just find the whole process a little exhausting.
