My name is Pooja. I was born and raised in Kenya but I’m ethnically Indian. I speak both English and Gujarati and I’m currently trying to learn some German . I am studying history and sociology in Canada at university at the moment. I love writing too and someday hope to write a novel. I’m a little indifferent and definitely an introvert but I like being that way.

Some of my interests include reading, writing, music, photography, science, astronomy and history.

My favourite TV shows and movies include Star Wars, Game of Thrones, How To Get Away With Murder, Empire, Sherlock, Friends, Entourage, Foxfire, Sid and Nancy, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Silence of the Lambs, 30 Rock, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, and Riverdale .

My favourite books include Harry Potter (the whole series), 50 Shades, Foxfire: Confessions of a Girl Gang, Manuscripts Found in Accra, The Secret, Scar Tissue, The Child Called It, Accidental Death of an Anarchist, Matilda, Catch 22 and anything by John Green.

Some musicians I like are Joan Jett And The Blackhearts, Sex Pistols, The Beatles, Queen, My Chemical Romance, Nirvana, Alanis Morrisette, The Smiths, James Bay, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Bon Jovi, Guns n Roses, John Frusciante, P!nk, Jeff Buckley, Kid Rock, Eminem.

Other things I enjoy include meditating and hanging out with friends.

This blog is mainly about poetry, psychology, inspiration, positivity and other things I find interesting.

  1. Hi there. I spent 20 years in Bharat Mata but only visited Kenya once. Being Gujarati I somehow imagined it would be PoojaP, the P for Patel but obviously not. You should find German somewhat easy as the sentence construction and masculine and feminine gender treatment are similar. My wife learned Hindi quickly because of her knowledge of German. 🙂

    1. Wow that’s amazing! I’ve never actually been to India but I’ve heard so many great things about it I hope I can go someday. Yeah a lot of Gujarati’s are Patel’s but I’m not. Yeah I’ve noticed that German is quite similar and I think it has made it easier for me to learn it.

  2. Several decades ago my English professor told me I was the only woman he ever met who really liked Catch-22. Glad I’m not the only one! Good to see your musical tastes are varied (I saw Joan Jett in concert a long time ago — amazing).
    Stay awesome!

  3. Thank you for stopping by my blog and liking my thought for yesterday. Your “About Me” was pulling me in and then I noticed that you didn’t mention Pink Floyd and my heart sank a wee bit.
I have one novel out there but only in the cyber world as an e-book. Writing can carry you along a story line like a river or it can get you stuck, mired down in the mud. The key to remember is not to force it, and when your mind does not want to write, there is nothing your fingers can do to change it. 🙂 have a great day young lady! ~RI~
